Songho Beach in South Korea

Sokcho Beach in South Korea is located at the Jeollanam-do province which vividly reflects a distinct Korean folk customs and traditional Korean cultural practices like pansori (Korean opera) are well conserved here. Jeollanam-do is renowned for offering a variety of special dishes and fresh seafood and it dazzles its visitors with multitudes of tourist attractions like national parks and extensive coastlines as well as numerous islets in the sea.


The Songho Beach in South Korea is placed at the furthest most southern part of the Korean peninsula and it is located at a distance of 41km to the south from Haenam-eup. The Songho Beach stretches for a length of 2km and possesses a breadth of 200m with an average water temperature of 20°C.The slope of the sand is gentle and the depth of water is relatively shallow which makes it particularly a favorite for the those who are interested in a spending an exciting family holiday. When the ebb tide recedes, collecting shells is one of the popular beach activities in Songho Beach. Those who want the solace of greenery can get rejuvenated at the nearby pine forest comprising of 100-200 year old pine trees. Songho Beach in South Korea is also a great place to try out fishing on the nearby rocks or islands and this beach also provides the convenience of various resort facilities including campsites.

How to Go to Haenam from Seoul
Take a bus bound for Haenam (Honamseon Line) at Central City Terminal (Seoul subway line No.3, Express bus terminal Station), it takes 5hrs. 10mins. / First bus is at 07:30, Last bus is at 17:55 / Intervals are between 40~50 mins.

How to Get to Songho Beach from Haenam
Take a bus heading towards the southern tip of the peninsula in Songho-ri from the Haenam Compound Bus Terminal (6 a.m.-6:45 p.m./40 minute interval/50 minute ride) and get off at Songho Beach.
