Harry P.Leu Botanical Gardens

Attractions in Orlando are not only meant for fun and entertainment. When you want to take a break from the bustling life of its shopping streets, entertainment centers and theme parks, you could take refuge in the arms of Mother Nature. Harry P. Leu Botanical Gardens is spread in almost 50 acres of space and it is home to more than 2000 species of plants.

Located only a couple of minutes from downtown Orlando, the Garden is situated on the banks of Lake Rowena. The Botanical Garden is more recognized in Orlando because it is the only house museum in the city that is open to public. The house museum was a farmhouse, which was restored in 1880s, refurbished to give its accurate historical décor before being opened to the public in 1962.

Harry P. Leu Botanical Gardens: Largest Collection of Camellia in the US

Harry P. Leu Botanical Gardens has the largest and most historic collection of camellia in the country. Visitors can stroll under canopy of ancient oak trees, or pass through winding pathways passing through gardens of camellia, orchids, roses, daylilies, palms and bamboo. At one time you could find yourself surrounded by plantations that come from different parts of the world – tropical stream garden, desert plant display or the local Florida plant garden. All the plants in the Botanical Garden are labeled scientifically, creating a living outdoor museum.
